I'm a complete beginner. Is this for me?
Yes. Premiers pas starts with very short fables and tales, the first texts French children read. Point at any word to see its meaning in English, and tap it to hear it on its own.
Why texts for children?
Because they're written to be read aloud and understood by someone who is still learning. Short sentences, words you meet again and again, and stories you already know in your own language, so you can follow along from the first day.
How quickly will I improve?
Ten minutes a day is a good rhythm. The same words come back from one story to the next, so you start recognising them by ear, then reading them without thinking. Most beginner stories take 1 to 10 minutes.
Where can I use it?
In your web browser, and in the app for iPhone and Android. Your stories, saved words and progress follow you from one to the other.
How does the pronunciation feedback work?
With Premium, you read a sentence aloud and the app tells you which syllables were clear and which need another try. Your voice is analysed on your phone or computer and is never sent to a server.
